July 31, 2014 – Harvest Lunch

We had an extra large group of kids to enjoy our Harvest Feast this year.  The Gilmer MGEVs served pizza, salad and delicious desserts to our Garden Club kids.  July 31st Harvest lunch.  We had an extra large group of kids to enjoy our Harvest Feast this year.  The Gilmer MGs served pizza, salad and delicious desserts to our Garden Club kids.

Busy Bees!!!

Today Mary Lou Blohm taught our  junior gardeners the role of bees in the garden.  They also enjoyed hands on experiences including scraping bees wax, making lip balm and extracting honey.

June 26, 2014

Boys & Girls Garden Club learned about beneficial and nuisance garden bugs.  After heading to the garden to see a few critters, the group made bugs from clay.

June 12, 2014 – The Boys & Girls Garden Club put together Mason Bee houses.  Master Gardener Volunteer Pat Corker discussed the purpose of the bees and how the bees build a nest.

Today the Girls and Boys made signs for their garden, planted more vegetables and watered the beds.

April 17, 2014 – Gilmer County Master Gardeners started the summer gardening program with Boys and Girls club. Master Gardeners worked with the group to plant seeds of flowers and vegetables. A fun time was had by all!
