April 7 – “Shade Gardening with Native Plants”

April 7, 6:00 pm – Gilmer County Library

Master Gardener, Debbie Rupp, will be giving tips and providing information on native plants that will grow in the shade. Many of us in the Gilmer County community live amongst towering trees and wooded areas which prevent us from gardening with typical greenhouse flowers and plants that require sun. Debbie is sure to inspire you with a list of the beautiful native shade plant options that will brighten your woodland yards.

Library Programs

We’re kicking off our 2016 library programs on Thursday, Feb. 4, 6:00 with a program on pruning, “Prune How?  Prune Now?”  pruneCindy Tesar and Beverly Martarella will provide information on the art and science of pruning including tool care and maintenance, techniques, and timing.  Participants will receive handouts on correct times to prune common garden plants/shrubs/trees.
In addition, Jessica Tibbetts, library adult program coordinator, will talk
about the new
Seed Exchange program that will be offered at the library, and there will be a nice collection of new seed catalogs for participants to take home
